I'm sorry it took so long, but a lot has happened. I got married on March 27th and 12 weeks pregnant! I hope to post some of the wedding pics - there's over 600 of them! Anyways, enjoy the small update, and I hope you forgive me for being away for so long...

Thicker Locs - Combining Project
(Jun 1, 2007)
So for a while now I have been really feeling the thicker locs. Then finally I felt the urge to have thicker locs myself. I researched lots of info on np.com then decided to combine my locs by twisting them together then sewing the last inch or so with black thread. I am thrilled about the idea of having thick locs; but not so thrilled about combining them this late in the game. I'm hoping they will be happily married within a year, but who knows. I am still contemplating growing out enough new growth to cut my locs and start with a fresh set. Mainly bcuz I'm just not sure if they will ever marry since my locs are mature and also because they are all different sizes! Ah well, we shall see.

Do Over Album! **Pics Finally Added**
(Jun 16, 2007)
***I forgot to mention something important. The combined locs were all joined together at the root first. When I combined 3 locs, I threaded the 2 outside locs thru the root of the center loc. With 2 locs, I just threaded one thru the root of the other. ***

Ok, so I touched up with the black dye and got all the spots we missed previously. Actually, I must give props to my daughter. She dyed my hair both times with only a little help from me.
Also, I am re-combining my locs. The thread just wasn't getting it, and the twists weren't staying together tightly from the root to where the thread began (on the ends). So I decided to do something new. I am in the process of unraveling about 2 inches of each loc so that I can braid the combined locs together from root to tip. This way they will stay together securely without the help of rubber bands or thread. This is a slow process! I'm armed with a spray bottle filled with conditioner and water, a hair sewing needle and a rat tail comb. I just do a few locs each day. I'll upload pics as soon as I can, I promise.

Back To Black
(May 1, 2007)
Ok, I had hi-lited, bleached and dyed my locs. After I sported the two tone look for a while, the black began to fade from my locs in the back. So I took out the black dye with a product called Color Zap, then dyed it fire red all over. It was gorgeous bcuz I had lots of different tones to begin with, but it didn't last. Reds never do! I didn't want to have to keep re-touching the color - especially since, in my opinion, the dye had begun changing my hair texture. So I decided to go back to black. After a lot of research on np.com, I decided to use Bigen hair color. I love it! My only problem is that I didn't buy enough. I went thru 6 boxes of the stuff and it wasn't enough. I plan to touch up the spots I missed, but for now I have a few red hi-lites ;)
