July 2010-December 2010 Got a Ouidad haircut which I loved but lost a lot of length. Gave my hair a break in July. Afro fluffy twists are my new love. I plan to 'hide my hair' (finances permit) with Afro fluffy twist for at least a year. Im a product junky......to a certain extent. What Im using now...... Jane Carter Solution and Carol's daughter. I keep my twists moisturized with Ouidad balancing rinse and other Ouidad products. Argan oil is a miracle. I promise no more hair cuts. Im on the grow flow. As of December my hair is 9" long. November 2006-January 2007 Due to my scalp itching and flaking all the time i decided to rock it out. If the weather got too cold I just wore a knit hat with a cotton liner underneath to keep me warm. July-December 2009 Finally...new pics! This is the result of protective styling. I usually wear twists 4-5 days out of the week. I only wear my hair loose (twist-out) on weekends if I have an event planned. Look for Spring updates soon........ I'm fine-tuning my routine and I will post updates soon. I have been wearing protective styles (braids) since January. I plan to wear braids until May or June. I need to give my hair a much needed rest. In doing so, its growing like wild flowers!! Once I finish my braids routine I will most likey cut a good 1-1 1/2 inches off which I think is damaged due to heat styling from early-mid 2008. So here is my routine so far....... -braids, braids, and more braids w/ human hair -cleanse scalp with kalpi tone, amla, and shikakai mix using distilled water -rinse scalp 2x per week with herbal tea made from distilled water, nettle, horsetail, rosemary, and marshmallow. -moisturise hair/braids using a wicked mix of distilled water infused with Irish moss, oat straw, horsetail, hibiscus, Panthenol, and Manuka honey. -seal with Vatika oil I take my braids out after 6-8 weeks. I know some ladies leave thier micro-braids/twists/extensions in for upward of 12 weeks. I envy those that can do that. Unfortunately, I have a very oily scalp that over-produces sebum and causes massive buildup even with regular washes. Once my braids are out I wash with kalpi tone, detangle with homemade condish, and apply Henna. I use Jamilla Henna mixed with- -Amla -Neem -tea made with distilled water, chamomile, marshmallow root, comfrey root, slippery elm, irish moss -Organic honey -brahmi oil -deep condish after rinsing out the henna followed by a Rosemary ACV rinse. I have researched ayurvedic herbs, teas, Indian powders, etc. Some of the mixes and tea recipes are found on natural hair blogs and ayurvedic websites. Some good sites are: http://www.anniesremedy.com/ and http://www.mehndiskinart.com/ Herbs are relatively inexpensive compared to what I was spending on commercial products. I will post pics and updates soon!!!!! I have noticed a huge difference in my hair and scalp. January 2008-July 2008 Pics of my hair a year later! I got it colored and wear twist outs. I love it! I also started using Biolage shampoos and conditioners and my hair is super soft. I twist my hair with Odara butter. Update: Back to braids for a while to give my hair a break. January 2007-July 2007 My hair began growing back in late January. I'm excited to begin this process again after losing my hair due to chemotherapy. I was natural for 2 1/2 years before I began treatment in Nov 2006. I hope that this album encourages anyone who is going through the same situation. God Bless. January-July 2010 Been so long since I updated! Long story short........ Suffered heat damage after a Dominican Blowout. Had to cut about 2" off. Nursed hair back to health with good old fashioned deep condishes and proteins. Been using Jane Carter's entire line and my hair super loves it. Met Jane Carter at the Natural Hair Show in Atlanta April 10th. I heart Atlanta. Been there twice in the last three months. Looking to move to Sandy Springs GA......within the next year or so. Got Uncle Funky's Daughter entire line and I can't wait to try it out. My hair is in mini twists 75% of the time. I have discontinued my Ayurveda routine....for now. Hardcore Protein treatments twice a month has made my hair so much stronger....Nexxus Emergencee. Baggy my twists 4 nights a week. Can't wait till the weather breaks in NY so I can experiment with wash-n-go's. My skin is better now that I am using a prescription sulpher cleanser along with Aveda's skincare line. Just discovered Makeup Forever HD foundation and Josie Moran clear setting powder. Controls the oil very well. Oh, and I got LASIK eye surgery in February. Wish I had gotten LASIK years ago. To celebrate my newfound eyesight I got eyelash extensions www.lavishlashes.com Okay I think that is all.......for now.
