- - Fame Fire Company units along with First West Chester and Good Will Fire Company were dispatched to East Bradford Township for a reported chimney fire. Assistant 53 arrived on scene to find heavy fire showing from the roof. Taking command, he immediately upgraded the assignment to a working fire dispatch. In need of additional units, Asst. 53 later upgraded the assignment to a 2-Alarm Box.
Engine 51-1 was the first truck on scene and stretched a 200’ pre-connected 1 ¾” attack line into the structure with Assistant 51 as operations command. Moments later, Ladder 53 arrived on scene and split the truck. The interior team, led by Lt. Witmer, headed into the house with NY hooks to pull walls and ceilings to allow the hose crew better access to attack the fire. The exterior team, led by FF Richie Clark, went to the roof with hooks and saws to cut ventilation holes. Later into the incident, FF Clark, FF Amway, and FF Harkins made a tremendous trench cut that helped greatly to stop the spread of the fire any further.
Engine 53 arrived on scene minutes later. While Engine 53 set up lines to supply Engine 51-1, FF Jim McCabe took two men and a 1 ¾” attack line to an exposure building to search for extension. The other half of his crew stretched a second line off of Engine 51-1 and proceeded inside the initial fire house to assist the interior crews with the primary fire suppression. Rescue 53 provided man power to the incident. Under Lt. Cummings orders, the rescue’s crew was split and sent to housing exposures on each side of the initial fire house to perform overhaul efforts in search of any fire extension. Engine 51-2 and Engine 52-1 also provided man power and assisted with the fire attack that afternoon. The fire spread in the attic throughout the given crawl space and eventually involved a total of 8 damaged condos.
Multiple fire companies assisted the West Chester Fire Department with this 2-Alarm house fire. EMS units from Good Fellowship Ambulance Club provided rehabilitation support for the firefighters by supplying shade, seating, snacks, water, and Gatorade.
Overall, a fantastic job was performed by all crews at the incident. Thanks to everyone for all of their hard work and efforts.
NOTE TO THE PUBLIC: Please put forth the extra effort to make sure cigarettes are put out completely and disposed of properly. Many fires can be easily prevented this way.
Mutual Aid: Engine 39-2, Engine 47-2, Engine 48, Tower 54, Ambulance 55 w/ Special Operations Trailer, and many others.

Thursday evening, Fame Fire Company was dispatched to a Multi-family dwelling for a reported house fire on Dean St. Along side were the First West Chester and Good Will Fire Companies. Crews arrived on scene to find heavy smoke pouring from second floor windows.
The small fire was contained to a single bedroom on the second floor and was knocked down within minutes. Water and smoke damage was done to the first floor and restoration efforts will be needed. The crews acted quick and did a great job controlling the fire in adequate time.

- (Dec 9, 2011)
- In the early hours Friday morning, the West Chester Fire Department was dispatched to the 500 Block of E Barnard St for a house fire.
Good Will Fire Company arrived first on scene and reported heavy fire showing, requesting the working fire upgrade. Ladder 53 arrived shortly after. Splitting crews, the exterior team threw ladders on each side of the house, while the interior search the exposure house for any extension. Primarily, per operational command, the fire was fought exteriorly. Crews only entered the house later on for minor extinguishment and overhauling.
The cause of the fire resulted from a furnace malfunction in the residents basement. Being powered by gas, the fire was not easily knocked down. Foam was used to further enhance extinguishment.
A job well done was accomplished by all companies associated. Thank to the mutual aid given by Goshen Fire Company, Good Fellowship Ambulance Club, and American Red Cross.
