Working Samples
This is just for hosting pictures that are used elsewhere - mostly for critiquing them. No relation to each other and not for displaying as an album.

Turkish and Islamic Arts Museum
(Feb 1, 2012)
Constructed in 1524, the building was formerly the palace of İbrahim Pasha, who was the first grand vizier to Suleiman the Magnificent.
The museum collection includes notable examples of Islamic calligraphy, tiles, and rugs as well as ethnographic displays on various cultures in Turkey.
See the originals if you are curious about the details of the ornaments on the carpets: there is a grey arrow at the top right of each photo for this purpose.

Istanbul under snow
(Feb 1, 2012)
I was lucky to be there on one of those rare days when white snow adds new look to well-known buildings.

Air Zoo
(Dec 20, 2011)
The Air Zoo, founded as the Kalamazoo Aviation History Museum, is an aviation museum and indoor amusement park adjacent to the Kalamazoo-Battle Creek International Airport (AZO) in Portage, Michigan. Many of its antique planes are airworthy, and you can take a ride on some of them in summer. In addition, you can fly your own airplane to AZO, which is three blocks from the Zoo (no side walk along the road, so they recommend arranging transportation).
The museum was founded by Pete and Suzanne Parish, both former pilots, who were content to leave their airplanes behind and share their enthusiasm about World War II airplanes with people who enjoyed these historic flying machines. The museum became popularly known as the Air Zoo because the collection included a Wildcat, Hellcat, Bearcat and Flying Tiger. It got a Tomcat and a Blackbird later. (Dec 10, 2011)
We crossed the City border from the North (Evanston) and follower the shoreline all the way to Indiana.

Northern suburbs
(Dec 10, 2011)
We boarded the plane at Waukegan Regional Airport (about 35 miles north of Downtown Chicago) and flew north along the lake shore. Notice some mansions facing the lake that can be seen only from the lake.

Indiana
(Dec 10, 2011)
We crossed into Indiana from Illinois and followed the coast line to Michigan City, where we landed for several minutes, and then went back the same way. Those few pictures that were made on the way back were inserted among the earlier-taken pictures in accordance with geography.
