Foggy Day Hike In Rice Canyon (Apr 23, 2012) This morning was very overcast due to a marine layer here in SoCal. My brother Keith, Hiker and I headed over to Rice Canyon for a hike. Everything was very damp due to the marine layer, but it was very green due to the late rains we've been having this year. As soon as we started out on the trail, we encountered a lone coyote. He seemed very used to people as he just sat and watched us from afar. We also encountered a gopher snake on our way back down the trail. The creek was running and there were a few wildflowers. Haskell Canyon Open Space (Apr 21, 2012) This morning my brother Keith, Hiker and I headed over to the Haskell Canyon Open Space for a hike. We had never hiked this area before. It was not a very scenic hike. It appears that this canyon is very popular with BMX bikers as they had ramps set up everywhere for their jumps and some of those jumps were pretty high. Another Short Hike In Quigley Canyon (Apr 7, 2012) It was such a beautiful afternoon that Hiker and I just didn't want to stay inside so we drove over to Quigley Canyon again to walk around and take some photos. We were just there two days ago but it is closer than going over to Towsley Canyon where I had thought of going at first. Morning Hike At Quigley Canyon Open Space (Apr 5, 2012) Hiker and I joined our friends Linda and RuthAnne for a morning hike at the Quigley Canyon Open Space area. None of us had hiked this area before. It has 4 trails ranging from easy to difficult. It was a beautiful morning for a hike. We saw a deer running up the side of the mountain, but I was unable to get a photo of it as the sun was in my eyes which means it was also pointing straight into my lens which caused a lot of glare. Two Hike Morning (Mar 29, 2012) My friend Linda came by and picked me and Hiker up at 7:30 am this morning and we headed to Rocky Peak near Simi Valley to a trail she discovered last week called The Hummingbird Trail. It was a very steep trail with some great views of the Simi Valley. We did almost 2 miles on that trail then decided to drive under the freeway and head over to the Corriganville Movie Ranch and hike a little there too. We did about 2 miles at the ranch also. The movie ranch has a loop trail that has sign posts explaining what movies and TV shows were filmed there. Has a lot of "Hollywood History". I had been to Corriganville Ranch before, but Linda had never been there and she enjoyed the history of the place. Hiker enjoyed both of the hikes.
