- Thanks for visiting ladies :) i probably will not be keeping track of my hair as frequently. but will update throughout the year to track my progress.
--- i'm feeling more comfortable w/my hair and it no longer feels like i'm making a fashion statement...it's just become a part of who i am now. i still wash weekly (usually mandated by the state of my scalp), i DC with whatever moisturizing condish is on-hand = anywhere from 10min-30min with or without heat. and style as desired/as time allows. thank you for taking this journey with me!
***The length of my hair at the beginning of my 3rd year can actually be viewed in my straight hair album which is posted at the end of the Year 2 folder.

| add to cart | | | - Straight Hair, Do you dare?
- I flat-ironed my hair this Spring 2012 (Valentine's Day). It was my first time having straight hair in ~2.5 years... February 14th actually marks 2 years and 3 months post by BC.
I used a cheap flat iron picked up from Ross that had heat-control settings. I started out at 280 degrees and eventually used 355 and the comb-chase method to straighten most of my head.
Prior to flat ironing, I Poo'd, DC'd, applied john frieda anti-frizz & heat protectant, and blow-dried using the tension method. I did not apply any leave-in condish or oils before styling. I also gave myself a very thorough trim 1/2 - 1 inch all over.
i wore my hair "straight-ish" for an entire week. the actual straight hair only lasted 2 days. afterwards i just maintained my hair with bunning & large braid/twist styles.
i'm back curly now, with no apparent heat-damage and awesome looking ends!!! - Album was created 3 months ago and modified 3 months ago

- Hi All!!!
So much to catch up on :) So i'm currently in my first year of grad school &&& its busy, busy, busy! Haven't taken a lot of recent hair pics, but these are all from last summer 2011. I was working three jobs in somewhat conservative settings...so i played around with a lot of buns and twist outs. I did manage to work in some WNGs though :) - Album was created 12 months ago and modified 3 months ago

- Regimen UPDATE:
"I think its safe to say I'm NOT strictly CG anymore..." I still avoid heavy silicones, petroleums and mineral oil, BUT I'm not afraid to shampoo or use SOME cones (well, i've only tried amodimethicone so far...)
::every week:: I DO the following:
1) Pre-Poo w/EVOO & finger detangle.
2)Shampoo my hair 1x per week (or every 2wks if i have twists in): I use a Sulfate- Free shampoo by ALBA (suggested by Taren916 on youtube).
-I find it less stripping than Giovanni Triple Threat 'Poo -Wash my hair in 8 sections or more -mix water, 'Poo, and a few drops of tea tree oil in an applicator bottle; apply directly to scalp. -I also use the Kimmaytube layering method = apply conditioner BEFORE washing out the shampoo
3) DC after every shampoo: Right now I'm using Shea Moisture Deep Treatment mask. Still looking, tho... ::UPDATE:: I started using Mixed Chicks Deep Condish again (i think the extra 5 dollars is worth it! lol)
4)Leave-IN Condish: ::::using watever I have nearby. i'm trying to get through my stash, so i won't feel guilty buying some more of my LOVE: Giovanni Direct Leave-In
SEALant(s): -Castor Oil/jojoba oil mix. I apply this over the length of my entire hair strand -focus on my ends with Shea butter mix
