SAGA ROSE's Departure & Paying Off Pennant 30 October 2009
(Oct 30, 2009)
SAGA ROSE departs berth 101, City Cruise Terminal, Southampton on her Farewell Cruise for Saga Cruises 30 October 2009
SAGA ROSE 24528gt Passenger (Cruise) Ship 1965 Bahamas
Looking splendid with her Paying Off Pennant flying from the mast [taken down by Town Quay], she departed shortly before 16:00 with tugs Svitzer Sarah [bow] & Svitzer Madeleine [stern] assisting.
She blasted 3 times twice as she sailed away for an aerial display from the Blades aerobatic team at Calshot before sailing via The Needles into the English Channel heading for Vigo & a meeting with her fleetmate SAGA RUBY on 1st November.
An exclusive sound-&-light show at the Pyramids of Giza & Venetian masked ball are voyage highlights, along with a long list of Special Guests:-
Des O'Connor, Katherine Jenkins, Ronnie Corbett, The Hot Rhythm Orchestra, Sally Gunnell, Anthony Stuart Lloyd, Tom O’Connor, Edwina Currie, Nicholas Parsons, Peter Sissons, Sue MacGregor, Lord Carey, Sir Bernard Ingham & Major General Sir Robert Corbett
She will return to Southampton on 6 December. Her future 'employment' is as yet unknown.

SAGA ROSE Alongside at Southampton 30 October 2009
(Oct 30, 2009)
SAGA ROSE alongside berth 101, City Cruise Terminal, Southampton on the day of her Farewell Cruise for Saga Cruises 30 October 2009
SAGA ROSE 24528gt Passenger (Cruise) Ship 1965 Bahamas
She looked wonderful and not a vessel about to end her sailing days as a cruise ship. The sun obliged, making a brief appearance at midday for some lovely photos. It was however still quite chilly & windy.
