- Five Step Plan
1. Detangle 2. Pre poo 3. Cleanse 4. Condition 5. Style
Details: 1. Detangle on dry hair with fingers first. This is a must for my fine, high density strands. I section with my fingers only and twist each detangled section. This has saved me so much hair. I usually have my hair in a stretched out style so I can successfully ( as in no need for a comb later on) detangle my hair this way.
2. Pre poo on dry hair using following mixture:
- 9.0 oz Aloe vera juice - 0.50 oz Amla oil (substitute Coconut oil when necessary) - 0.50 oz Glycerin (substitute honeyquat when necessary) - 0.25 oz Panthenol (substitute any hydrolyzed protein when necessary)
Apply with a spray bottle to twists. After all the twists have been saturated I apply my deep conditioner to each twists one at a time from root to tip. Massage into hair. Cover with a plastic cap sleep overnight OR steam for 20 minutes.
3. Cleanse with either Avocado Cleansing Cream or Just Peachy Shampoo. Do not remove twists. Rinse deep conditioner out first.
4. Condition with Detangle Me Grapeseed Conditioner. Take down one twist at a time and detangle with a wide tooth comb (if needed). Seal with water free buttercream and re-twist or braid.
5. Style my hair as desired for the week. Either leave the twists in as is or braid, curl, or bantu knot them for an "out" style.
***I do 4 out of 5 steps (1, 2, 4, & 5) weekly and only include step 3 (cleanse) when I have build up/dirty scalp. I DO NOT cleanse if my scalp is not dirty.
*** When wearing an out styles (warmer months) I do steps 1, 2, 4, & 5 every 3 - 4 days.
*** When wearing protective styles (colder months) I moisturize and seal every 3 - 4 days.
***Re-twist every 2 weeks and re-braid every 3 weeks during colder months.
***Blow dry every 1 - 2x per month in the winter only. - Album was created 1 year ago

| add to cart | | | - Braids ONLY - 270 Day Challenge (has been modified)
- Challenge: difficulty in a job or undertaking that is stimulating to one engaged in it; testing one's ability, endurance, etc.
I put that definition there simply because I am going to need to remind myself of why I decided to do this, lololol.
Start date: August 2, 2010 End date: May 2, 2011
I will be using all my own products to style, condition, and nourish my hair while doing this challenge.
8/2/10 Length check: Bangs - 8 in Crown - 8 1/4 in Ear - 7 3/4 in Nape - 6.5 in
Rules: -Hair must be braided for at least 4 weeks at a time; no longer than 6 weeks -Moisturize daily with braid spray -Deep condition once a week; alternate btw protein and moisture -Detox and oil rinse once a month (when braids are removed) -Hot oil treatment with scalp massage 2x a month
Update: 11/25/10 So the last set of braids I did were in WAAAY to long and detangling was a beast. I am also very self conscious about my edges. So for the remainder of my 9 month challenge I will be doing a combination of braids, twists and mini-twists.
Update: 1/2/11 I'm definitely learning a lot while doing this challenge and much of what I have done and thought were absolute truths (as far as hair care went) are being challenged. I am thoroughly enjoying the process :-) - Album was created 2 years ago and modified 1 year 4 months ago
