Kenmore
(May 26, 2012)
We have had a spell of very warm weather, temperature today was around 25C. The club coach took us to Aberfeldy where we had coffee and then on to near Kenmore, where we started our walk. We walked to the Stone Circle above Kenmore, then down to the Falls of Acharn and the Hermits Cave, then along the road from Acharn to Kenmore, stopping for a picture at the Crannog Centre. Went back to Aberfeldy for an hour in the pub, actually out in the beer garden, then home. Great seven miles, even in the heat.

Reflections
Although most of the photographs are featured elsewhere, I wanted to bring them together in one album of reflections, and will add to them from time to time

Glasgow ---------------------Scotland with style
Glasgow is the largest city in Scotland . It is situated on the River Clyde in the country's west central lowlands. A person from Glasgow is known as a Glaswegian. Glaswegian is also the name of the local dialect.

Glasgow grew from the medieval Bishopric of Glasgow and the later establishment of the University of Glasgow, which contributed to the Scottish Enlightenment. From the 18th century the city had become one of Europe's main hubs of transatlantic trade with the Americas. With the Industrial Revolution, the city and surrounding region grew to become one of the world's pre-eminent centres of engineering and shipbuilding, constructing many revolutionary and famous vessels. Glasgow was known as the "Second City of the British Empire" in the Victorian era. Today it is one of Europe's top twenty financial centres and is home to many of Scotland's leading businesses

In the late 19th and early 20th centuries Glasgow grew to a population of over one million, and was the fourth-largest city in Europe, after London, Paris and Berlin. In the 1960s large-scale relocation to new towns in the suburban area of the city, followed by successive boundary changes, have reduced the current population of the City of Glasgow unitary authority area to 578,790.[8] 1,171,390 people live in the Greater Glasgow Urban Area based on the 2001 census. The entire Glasgow conurbation covers approximately 2.3 million people.

Croy circular via Bar Hill and Auchinstarry
(May 16, 2012)
Lovely walking day with plenty of sunshine and a couple of showers. Took the train to Central then up to Queen Street for the train to Croy. Walked from Croy to Bar Hill along part of the Antonine Way. Lots of historical interest, including the line of the wall, and the foundations of a Roman Fort. Down to Twechar and the Canal to Auchinstarry where we had an hour for a snack or drink or whatever. Then a short walk back to Croy for the return journey.

A lovely relaxing day with good company.

The Annandale Way
(May 12, 2012)
A seven mile walk starting at Hoddom Castle and walking along the banks of the River Annan to the town of Annan. We were very lucky with the weather, as the two days before were very wet, but we got sunshine.

The Sma' Glen
(Apr 27, 2012)
Started our walk along the course of the old General Wade military road towards Connachan, and from there headed to Loch Meadbrodden where we had lunch. Then passed the standing stone and stone circle, about which I could find no information, before heading towards Buchanty to finish our seven mile walk. Sunny although a nip in the air, beautiful walking weather. Had a social stop at the pub in Crieff, which was great.
