One Year Nappiversary Pics (May-August 2010) FINALLY
Well....now that it has finally been over a year, I can honestly say that I'm done fighting my hair. lol Wanna see why? Look at my product album. I've read blog after blog and I saw the same thing over and over and OVER again. "Simplicity is key", "less is more". Instead of comprehending what I was reading...I was like, "Forget that I'm about to try this new conditioner. lol I can honestly say that I'm done except I haven't gotten on the jojoba oil train yet. I'm all ears for something that helps close cuticles...so some sites say. The only thing that will have my former PJ'ism roaring is when the winter hits and I have to fight myself from getting Qhemet's AOHC when I know that shea butter/coconut/olive will suffice.

During my raging PJism I've learned these things...
1) My hair is not cool with glycerin. Vegetable or Animal...it's just not down. The ONLY way my hair will accept even being in the same room with it is if I'm going to hop in the shower soon. It would either make it so soft that I would walk around looking like a frizz ball, or it would make my hair so brittle and crunchy that one would think I had a serving of black shredded wheat on my head. NOT COOL. :-O
2) I had to hang it up with cones. I just don't have the lifestyle that allows me to wash my hair with sulfates every single week because of the ridiculous buildup. I could shampoo my hair on Sunday, use something with cones (i.e. conditioner), and by Wednesday I could literally SEE the buildup on my hair, scalp, and fingernails! NO MA'AM! So I guess one could say that I'm on the all natural product kick. It just works for ME. As much as I love VO5, Herbal Essences, and the like, I just can't handle the quick fixes anymore!
3) I've always run across Kimmaytube on youtube and honestly, I'm not a fan of watching long videos...unless I'm trying to do a new style. But she talked about POROSITY and I'm pretty sure this has saved the life of my hair. That's pretty much it. My hair is happy and so am I!

BC Month!!! 06/06/09
Oh, where do I begin......

1. Transitioners PLEASE protect yourself from heat. It is NOT a joke!!!! I absolutely love my cut now, but I had to cut off 6 months of growth because I had super straight pieces left from my last flat iron. YES I did use heat protective spray. Although I didn't notice any damage it was permanently straight. : (

2. Make sure you are MENTALLY transitioned before you chop! My mom hated my hair before my boyfriend finished the job up with clippers. But because I was mentally transitioned, I wasn't even phased when she made the face she made. I just smiled and proceeded to enter the world. : ) On a positive note, my boo loves it! Maybe because he has something to do with it! lol

3. I cannot lie and say that I loved it at first sight because the lady that chopped it for me was a barber and of course scissor happy. She totally ignored my requests and did her own thing. That's why I went to my boyfriend to finish it up for me. So I highly encourage doing it yourself! Or to have someone you trust to cut it. NOW I love my hair and whatever decides to grow out of my head. Lol! I's FREE!!!! : )

No lye.....it feels good to be an all natural woman. : )

March and April 2010 (9th and 10th month NATURAL!!!)
I listen to my hair more than anything so telling someone a regimen would be totally lying. lol
I wash when it's dirty or when it doesn't seem to "take" my products.
I cowash when it's ridiculously dry.
I retwist at night.
I DC when my hair feels just...RIDICULOUS. lol
I "dust" or trim my ends while in twists when I see a frizzy halo on my previous twistout...which happens about once every 6-8 weeks.
I found a fake denman for $1! LOL And I'm in love.
That's all ladies!

November and December (5th and 6th month NATURAL!)
I've made it to my 6th month natural and as of December 24th, it's been one year without a relaxer! WOW! Coming from a girl that couldn't imagine life without one is amazing. I will never turn back. Things I have observed this month.
*"Listening" to my hair and scalp is the best thing I could do for myself.
*GROWTH
*Ignoring the negative comments I get from peers. It's an alarming amount of black women that don't know what I'm gonna do to style it because my hair keeps growing. I'll just show them better than I could ever explain to them.
Staples for now: My shealoe mix, giovanni direct leave in, coconut oil, and giovanni smooth as silk.
That is all my natural sistas! Enjoy!
