Curl Formers Experiment

There are two new styles that I want to try. I've been reading the "how to's" and watching Youtube videos on the techniques, and well, I think that I am ready to give it a try.

Come back in June for the pics!!

I forgot to post the pics! ..sorry...

The result was the cutest spiral set ever! Next time that I venture into curlformers, I'll be sure to post the pics. :)

Nov, 2010 Quick Press w/Maxiglide
I pressed my hair for the 1st time since Feb 2008 (think was the last time). The press came out great, no issues. I received tons of wonderful compliments, mostly "is that your hair"? ... and "I can't believe that's all of your hair"...many of my co-workers aren't used to seeing me with straight hair...all they see is a daily bun or an occassional half up/down style with my beloved comb clips (can't think of the clip's name). Anywho, I didn't take many pics...only about 3. I'll try to get them posted soon. I worn the press for a month (yes a mth, lol). Oh and by the way, i did a huge cut. I chopped about 4-5 inches!!...went from waist length to bsl. Before the cut, when wet, my curls were trying to take over my life. Pre-pooing, pooing, conditioning, airdrying, etc was simply becoming toooo much damn work!!! Between my hair and my daughter's thigh length hair, well I became sick and tired of.....hair!! So mine had to go! Well not all of it but a nice chunk. Fast forward to today...I have shaven about 1 hour off my poo routine!! My hair life is no longer a choir...it has almost returned to becoming a joy again!!

Sept 2010 - My Kinky Curly Experience!
I've been wanting to try KCCC for several years, but always changed my mind due to the price (product + shipping & handling) = "I am NOT paying THAT MUCH for hair stuff" lol. I am a firm believer that I can have long, healthy natural hair on a tiny budget, and guess what? After 6 yrs in this game, i have proven myself right!! Ok well, I got the itch again and bought KCCC and KCKT from Whole Foods on Sept 18th. I poo'd and conditioned w/Whole Foods naturals line, then applied KCKT. I made 4 sections then raked in KCCC. The consistency was like a slimy version of Lilly of the Desert's aloe vera gel, but I got used to it after a few finger applications. It immediately clumped my curls and made them shiny. I was like "this is the SHIZZY HOT DAYUM!!!!" I worked the front two sections first (my looser curl patterns). They were looking great!!! I began to work on the back 2 sections tighter curl patterns)...and that's when all hell broke loose, lol...my back curls DREW UP soooo tight to my scalp until I started reaching for bobby pins and bill clamps to stretch out the hair! At that point, I knew elongated curls was NOT in the works for me....( I was so disappointed). HOWEVER, I won't give up on KC just yet. I will retry with my BELOVED HOMEMADE HAIR BUTTER and see what results. (Water based products shrink my curls to no end; oils and thick butters stretch out my curls).

9/19/10 Update:
In the a.m., my front (looser pattern) also drew up :( . I ended up applying Aubrey's HR onto dry hair, followed up with a dab of my hair butter. Ended up with a presentable hairdo. (I have those pics as well).

9/20/10 Update:
Mon evening I braided my hair 4 a braidout. I made 6 braids (1 above each ear, 1 crown, 3 back). I applied a mix of WF conditioner (I think it's called "365"?? There's a pic in this album)...also added my hair butter, emulsified in my hands and added it to the hair b4 braiding. In the a.m., I unraveled the braids, fluffed, and had the best braidout EVER!! My hair was hanging and swinging all over the place. I received sooo many compliments at work as well as (new recruits) request 4 hair care advice.

Topsy Turvy Tomato Planter
--> OK, I know this album doesn't belong in my hair file, but oh well!!! Don't feel like moving it to another location, lol! <--

A mommy and daughter project!

I bought the planter for me and the lil one because it's supposed to be easier to grow fruits and veggies above ground as opposed to planting n the ground (for verrrry challenged gardeners like myself ). Neither my daughter nor myself have a green thumb, so hopefully this will work for us.

Follow along as lil momma & I try to grow some tomatos!!
