- I had my hair professionally relaxed. Before I did, my stylist consulted with me and wanted to know the reasons why. I thought this was awesome, she wanted to understand the psychology behind deciding to relax. I always knew I was in good hands. Mizani Butter Blends was used (the same relaxer used for my text). Throughout my album, I'll detail what was done and what I plan to do differently to keep my hair healthy. No worries, Nainne is not relaxed, nor will she ever be while living with me!
BTW - SL means shoulder length, aiming for APL (Arm Pit Length) - 40 photo(s) (65 MB)

| | | - Relaxed Hair Care Products 2008-2009
- I'll update this album as needed when I use a new product or discontinue use of another. I use some of the same methods as when I was natural, just a lot less and obviously my Miss Jessie's and Hair Rules will only be used when I do a braid out on my relaxed hair!

- Due to demand, it has been a minute since I've featured my babe...not quite a babe, but still mine. She won't be seen too often, she's busy and so am I, but here she goes!! We tried curlformers!

- Here we are at my two year mark. I have some celebrating to do and some confessing, yes confessing, I texturized my hair!!!!! I did, no not by myself, professionally of course. And guess what I LOVE it. Let me dive into the reasons why and then explain what was actually done.
WHY: Eventhough Dickey showed me how to style my hair, this technique is very time consuming, and I used soooo much product. After spending a good hour applying this product and then drying another 40 minutes, my hair looked great but never lasted past 1 or two days, sometimes but very rarely did I see third day hair. This still hasn't changed with the exception that I spend less time styling, therefore re-wetting every other day is more feasible than spending two plus hours styling each a.m. or Saturday!
I was fighting with my hair and fighting my daughters hair, this again, time consuming for me and needless to say frustrating, she usually ends up wearing her hair in a pony!
School started back for me, no time for games and simplicity became my no. 1 priority. School also started for my five year old, so talk about stressed, it's beyond that! So I fixed what I could starting with my hair!
And, I really just decided I was going to do what was easier for me, since growing my hair was about me, then why not make this experience also about me. Not being selfish, but I have to do what's best for me!
Hope you enjoy!
Do I see myself as natural? Technically I am not natural, but when I look at my curls, those were not "made" they existed and I stretched them out, just as I would "alter" my hair with color, but to keep it real, no I am not natural and I am fine with that, I'm me, my hair is my hair.
So with that come on in, I will tell you all about it and how it has changed my life postively!!! Texturizing may not be for you, do your research ( I did for a few months) and also learn your hair and what it can really do BEFORE you jump to chemicals, I love that I waited two years because I got to see "my real" hair! - 14 photo(s) (30 MB)

- OMG, one month until my two year anniversary. This month, I re-ordered Hair Rules and am chillin awaiting my visity to NYC in September. I need some clarification on: how to get 2nd day hair and why my clumps are much smaller than Dickey's! Grad school starts back up on the 25th and so updates will be scarce.

- I am loving my hair. I am still figuring out what a regimen is and also trying to mimic Dickey's technique, I have not been sucessful thus far, but I do not have a fro, so hip hip horray! My staple products will soon be listed in my products album soon, but what I have been doing is:
1) co-washing or wetting hair whenever I want which is about 2-3 times a week (I workout five) 2) Leaving a lot of conditioner in 3) applying product (hair rules or miss jessies) 4) diffuse or sit under dryer until 80% dry 5) at night placing hair into four afro puffs and leaving the front out (my bang) 6) refresh in a.m. with refresher (curl junkie-curl fuel) or re-wetting entire head with conditioner and starting over! In my product album, I'll go into detail about what I use and what I do. Enjoy July!! - 25 photo(s) (56 MB)
