- Could a passenger car do it? Yes, but this road is not for the backroad novice no matter what the vehicle. From Long Valley Camp, it was about a 1.5 hour drive to the nearest human. It's a BIG lonely country out there. The photos are a sampling of roadside vistas and shots of the road surface. Road varies: good pavement, bad pavement, good dirt, sand from a sprinkle to a couple of inches, washboard, loose gravel. Speed with my RV was usually about 10 MPH, some faster, some slower.

| | | - October 2006: second Tiger trip
- From Chula Vista CA up Hwy 395 to Bishop, then into Nevada. Berlin-Ichthyosaur state park, snow, wind, lots and lots of spectacular empty country and mountain vistas, miles of washboard road, camping with my cousins' Airstream group, ghost towns, fall color, back to home/traffic/work. Don't you love those road signs? A real Tiger road! Ten days. 1557 miles. A great trip!

| | | - September 2006: my first trip
- Tiger 4x4 RV, 8.1L Vortec gas engine, Allison 6 speed automatic transmission. Itinerary: Western Sierra Nevada south of Yosemite. Sierra Vista Scenic Byway. Kaiser Pass road all the way to Lake Thomas A. Edison and Florence Lake; this was some of the toughest road I've ever driven. Lots of Sierra foothill back roads, both dirt and paved. Courtright Lake. Mountain Home Demonstration State Forest. If this Tiger looks unusually sleek to you, it's because I deleted roof A/C & railing.
