- Being the day that Singapore became an independent nation, this is one of the biggest holidays for Singaporians. They are very proud of their country and show it by celebrating in style with huge fireworks, loud jets, cannons, parachutes, music, and a parade. The two other yoga teachers and I took a picnic dinner out to the field in front of National Stadium to ensure we would be close to the action. Tickets for the parade are hard to come by so we hung out on the lawn outside the stadium.
