- These are automatic drawings that I occassionally create via indulgence in the psychological principle of the ideomotor effect. Essentially, I rest the pen upon the paper and allow my unconscious mind to move it to create an illustration . . . I often have no idea what the final result will be until the moment when the pen gently and without conscious volition lifts from the paper. Many cultures use automatic drawing or automatic writing as a means to communicate with spirits, ghosts, or even the gods . . . I use it as a means for introspective exploration and rather than communicate with exterior beings find that the only gods I need to use it to communicate with are the ones that reside within my own soul. - Kaye Elizabeth Phillips and friends perform MERMAID'S LAMENT, an original composition for flute, piano, and cello on 9 June 2011 at Tamkang Senior High School in Tamshui, Taiwan, where Kaye is a student in the music specialty program, majoring in Composition and Piano. While she has been writing original songs for a number of years, this is the first time Kaye has publically performed one of her own compositions for multiple instruments. - Various FanSigns or images of the like - particularly for the Life of Brian http://briandavidphillips.typepad.com pages. FanSigns are self-portrait images with the name of the person you're fan-signing on a sign or bodypainted on the person. Fan Signs for this album need to have a sign or bodypaint of "Brian David Phillips" or "American Werewolf" or "Meiguolangren" or some variaton in English or Chinese - with or without a message. Just email your image to phillips@nccu.edu.tw and I will put it here (feel free to attach a note - not-very-nice notes will not be posted although naughty-and-nice ones will). Multiple fansigns are okay. Have fun with it. I decide which images to put up, so make it a good one.
Contrary to what seems to be popular belief . . . fansigns don't have to be nude and in fact for a number of folks I know, I'd strongly discourage any nude or even semi-nude photos anytime soon - that includes me. :-) Please keep the pubic fansigns at the G, PG-13, or R level with any naughty bits strategically or otherwise covered if you're going for risque. Adult-rated pieces will not be posted to the public folder and will only go to the private folders. The private album is password protected so you need to send a fansign to get access to the rest of that album (when your fansign goes up, I will email you the password).
If you are unfamiliar with fansigns, just do a websearch with the keywords fan sign, fansign or fansigns.
The comments to your fansign will point back to your webpage, profile, or email (IF you request it), otherwise, they will be kept confidential. If you have a fansign gallery, I will send a fansign to you when you send one to me.
Most folks just hold a sign up or something with a message. Mostly, you should just have fun with it. Thank you for the support.
