33-35(4.28-6.28.12)
I have four more months until my 3 year anniversary.. I haven't been taking photos and documenting like I know I should, so as of right now I'm kinda off on my months.. But bottom line it will be 3 years on 9.27.12(I'm gonna stop this months business and start a 3 year folder, and create a new album for each month. I think that is easier to track for me!

Updates:

Styling: Nothing too exciting in the style department is going on right now. As I head into my 3 yr anniversary, I find that I am really simple when it comes to styling.(twists, twist outs, buns, etc.) I am very busy, and don't have time to try a lot of different styles, so I stick to things that are quick and simple.

Products: I've typically been using shea moisture, Shida's moisturizer, terressentials wash, and my natural oils.. I really would like to see how my hair would respond by using 1 product line. I am not a Product junkie, but my hair has needs that I typically can not find in one line. So I am trialing As a I'm Naturally product line to see if it's something I can commit too. They have Everything in that line..so I'm starting to keep a journal on my experience with this right now.

Gadgets: Someone "gave" me a hair steamer, and my hair really loves it! My hair is a lot easier to detangle and a lot softer.

Growth: I have noticed that it's gotten a little longer... I haven't done an "offical" length check in a while, I will probably wait until Sept on my 3 yr Anniversary. I've noticed I don't measure my hair as much as I use too. Primarily focusing on health.

Plans: I Love protective styles..so I will continue wearing my twists, I've added top buns, which is something new and fun for me. I'm also back on my Nzuri liquid vitamin, I'm also trying to simplify my regimen by reducing the amount of products that I buy and use.

5/29/2012 Update Protective Style challange in seasons

Protective styling with Mini braids and Mini twists..the plan is to continue throughout the summer. I sort of fell off with protecting it... I want to get to APL(unstretched) so I'm going to be wearing my hair up a lot. I've tried my best not to focus on length but it's hard not to notice coming up on my three year anniversary..you just automatically think about how much length you're retaining, and mine could be better. When the fall approaches I will decided how I will protect my hair I change my mine so much..it may be twists, crochet braids or these mini braids but it'll be protected so we'll see.

Natural Twists
These photos are a compilation of my twists over the past 2yrs & 7 months that I've been natural. (I also saved the orginal comments from my fotki friends(but it didn't pull over my responses to their comments? I'll only duplicate answers to quesions in this album..the rest of the responses are in the orginal folders)

I think it's amazing where I started(my hair was short and I lacked skill, but I look at where I am today and practice really does make perfect) I can recall being frustarted with my twists and even afraid to wear them out of the house, but today I am twisted up 90% of the time! I thank God for progress.. What a wonderful journey.

BIG CHOP!!! 3 MOS EARLY? LOL
Okay.. didn't I just do a 9mos post album two days ago? omgosh... I messed up and saw one of my bff fotki's girls hair, and how great it is doing. I showed my husband and he was like.. baby just go ahead and cut your hair if you want to. And I was like are you serious? (he said "it will probably grow faster, and you already have a lot of NG) I told him no way.. I need at least 3 more months. But the more I thought about it.. I said why delay it? Your hubby is on board and you know you are tired of struggling with this hair! So, I called my friend(who recently chopped hers) And we did it! I feel really good. I am just happy to have all of the perm out.. now I can really get down to business and work this hair out. The ends were really in my way! I'll take All suggestions on what worked for you immediately following your BC!

31 to 33 mos(2.28-4.27.12)
(Mar 12, 2012)
Protective styling with Crochet braids right now and I LOVE them! At this point I've been in my first set for almost 1 month. I will continue to do these along with other protective styles throughout the spring leading into summer.

**update on protective styling** 4.15.12
It's kinda sad how I can't really commit to one long term PS plan...lol.. I'm so random with my choices..I'm back to my twists, I'm sure I will do crochets again, but right now I'm wanting to nuture my hair more, my hair was really dry when I took that first set down.

Also interested in trying a semi or demi permanent color..**gasp* I know because I don't want to damage my hair. So I will be consulting with a colorist and do a few test patches first. (That's If I don't chicken out!) Maybe lowlights will be better than a all over color..we shall see!

**update on color*** 4.15.12
It's a NO.. I can't do it! I guess I am anti chemicals when it come to my natural hair. I really LOVE how color looks on others, but my hair is too prone to dryness already..too risky...will stick with Henna.

**update on products**4.15.12
Will be starting a 30 day challenge for product "Exclusivity" I am finally tired of having so many different products from different lines. I want one line that is local, affordable, and that works. I think I may have found it, but I'm gonna use it for 30 days and see how I make out.

Newer Inspiration
Since my first inspiration hair album I've grown in my perspective of what beautiful Natural Hair is, as well as the reasons why I am inspired by the people listed in this album. I may borrow a couple from my old album. But overall I've found the longer I've been natural my taste and style has changed! When I first went natural, I thought I would be primarily interested in just wearing my natural hair in out styles, but that has not been the evolution of my natural crown. I Love All kinds of naturals styles now,(especially twists!) I also love Colored Natural hair, I think it's So beautiful..(not sure if I will take the color plunge, but for now I enjoy looking!)

29 to 30(1.27-2.27.12)
My hair will continue to be in twists.. will be trying different sizes because putting in Mini twists are a job.. I don't always feel up to it. But want to keep twisting up. Also will be focusing on trying Cipriana's(lady from UrbanBushBabes) sealing ends method, using the Bobby pin wrap) My ends need more TLC..

I don't "plan" to try any new products.. Just continuing with my winter reggimen(cleanse, cassia, d/c and protective style twist..( Oh I may try to put in some crochet braids..for a full cover PS..but we'll see.)

Update:
*I did try a new product CaCao Bark Deep conditioner and Java Bean Hair balm..Love Them! (on the
expensive side, so not sure if I will continue to purchase them)

*Decided to do crochet braids! Love Love Love..Them, overjoyed that I put them in. Will leave in from 4 to 6 weeks..break for a week to put in Henna and Deep Conditioning, and put them back in.

27 to 28 months(12.27-1.27.2012)
Happy New Year Everybody! I had a little time to reflect on my hair care moves last year, and 2011 was a really big learning curve for me. My hair made a lot of strides growth wise and with that came a lot of growing pains! I had issues with my ends, which led to multiple trims, and with increased thickness and length I experienced a lot of detangling woes and time consuming wash days which led to some minor breakage.

So this year I am going to try my best to keep things simple! I've learned that I do love protective styles for many reasons! So I will be wearing twists a lot and keeping my hair moisturized. For the next couple months I will be doing nothing but wearing twists, (because its COLD)... So I don't anticipate my winter updates being that eventful. However I will be trying some new things that I have coming

Terressentials mud wash and Marshmallow Root powder! I've heard so many good reviews on the Terressentials(thanks for sealing the deal Silkee!) And with Marshmallow root powder.. I've heard a lot of people say its really good for conditioning and makes detangling a breeze. I will be adding these powder to my Monthly Cassia treatments to help with the post rinsing and detangling sessions.
