The New Forest is nearly 1000 years old, and was created as hunting ground for the new King William I in 1079. King William (Rufus) II was killed in the forest whilst hunting in 1100.

Old Sarum

Old Sarum is an Iron Age monument that was also used by the Romans and the Saxons. There are also remains of an early cathedral before an new bigger one was built on it present site to the south.

Located between Launceston and Bodmin on Bodmin Moor, the Inn was used by smugglers in the 18th and 19th centuries and made famous by Daphne du Maurier in her book of the same name.
