- (May 20, 2004)
- The conference ended with a Q&A session, followed by what they call a "Way Forward" exercize, which is a small group exercize to lay out how to implement what the attendees learned during the week. We also had some farwells and photos of the clergy and leaders who stayed beyond the final luncheon.

- (May 22, 2004)
- We bade our host family farewell and began the journey back to Kampala, Uganda. We said goodbye to the family at the Wandera home, and also stopped by the local school where the oldest child was attending Saturday morning classes to farewell him. As is the custom, Amos and Jane accompanied us part way, seeing us off at the border crossing.

- (May 13, 2004)
- These photos were taken in Kampala, Uganda. The USA team members, Ed Speare, Rev. Phil Ashey and Rev. Kathleen Christopher, spent our first day in country with Phil and Jennifer Leber, full time missionaries in Kampala and friends of Phil and Ed. We visited the Archbishop of Uganda's spouse, Phoebe Orombi, toured a local market (if you are wondering what the baskits of little green things are, they are fried grasshoppers) and spent time at the Leber's house. A very low stress way to get acclimated!

- (May 18, 2004)
- The conference we came to put on was for clergy and lay leaders of the Nambale Diocese (Anglican Church of Kenya). We expected about 85-100, but eventually had about 150 participate. The day started with a Bible study/devotion, some praise and worship, then our talks. During breaks we had a map of the USA to show where we lived and were from originally, and we also talked and prayed with many people.

- On Sunday, our team split into pairs of two, with Kathleen and Titus going to the cathedral church, where they took turns preaching and greeting at two services, while Ed and Phil teamed up for one service at the main church in the border town of Busia. Ed brought the greetings and Phil preached the sermon.

| add to cart | | | - Last Day in Uganda
- (May 23, 2004)
- Our last full day in Uganda was Sunday, so we arranged to attend one of 5 church services at the Anglican Chapel of St Francis at Makkare University in Kampala. The senior priest is an old friend of SOMA, Ben Mugarura. The service was a charismatic Holy Communion service with about 1000 young people in attendance. Great worship and music. Needless to say, it was an uplifting experience for us, as we had expended a lot during the week and needed to be refilled and refreshed. "Uncle Ben" gave Ed a chance to speak at the end of the service for a few minutes to the congregation. Note the stork roosting in a tree next to the chapel. Also, the chapel has an interesting set of panels painted on the ceiling of the choir loft. Each panel depicts a story from the book of Revelations, and in total tells the whole story of that book of the Bible. It was painted by students. After the service, we invited our driver, Simon and his fiance, Lillian to have lunch with us. Afterwards we all went to the local tourist craft market so the team could do a little shopping.

| add to cart | | | - Our Host Family in Kenya
- (May 15, 2004)
- We stayed with a lovely family in the Nambale area, Rev Amos and Jane Wandera and their children and extended family members. They made us feel right at home. Ed had stayed with Amos in 2001 on his previous mission there, so knew all the family, except for the most recent arrival, baby Ephraim who was born in December of 2003. In one of the photos, he is wearing the knit hat one of our local parishioners made to take as a gift. Note also the roosting hen who picked the living room one day to make her egg deposit!
