Big Hair 4-27-10
This is a chunky twistout that I wore today, then decided to separate each section and fluff it all out in preparation for a braidout. I swear, it was really way bigger than this. I guess the camera couldn't capture all the bigness (lol).

Wash-n-go with homemade hair lotion
I made myself a new hair lotion last night and tried it out this morning. I used some SheaMoisture Leave-In Conditioner, raw shea butter, rosewater, and aloe vera juice. Just dumped in a little bit here, splashed in a little bit there, threw in some preservative, mixed it all up with the hand mixer, and that was it.

I did my regular routine with my Ayurvedic oil pre-poo and cleansing tea, used AO HSR to condition (no heat this time...pure laziness). Applied the hair lotion and followed with Shae's Curly Pudding. So far, I like it! I'll have to see how it does on dry hair.

Roller Set 11-7-09
I haven't rollerset my hair in years. When I was relaxed, I used to wash and set it almost every week, so I'm no stranger to rollersets. I've only done it on fully natural hair once. That was many years ago and it was a disaster. This time, I used mesh rollers instead of magnetic ones. It came out pretty nice, but not perfect. Some parts aren't as smooth as they should be. I sat under the dryer for an hour and a half, and some pieces were still damp. I'm going to go over all of it with my flat iron later.

I used this site as a guide: http://www.long-healthy-hair-advisor.com/roller-set-natural-hair.html

Products used:
Annie 1 1/2 inch wire mesh rollers
Metal duckbill clips and a few plastic slide-in clips
KBB Hair Milk
Aphogee Keratin & Green Tea Restructurizer
Lottabody Setting Lotion
Coconut/Castor oil blend on ends
Gold-N-Hot Soft Bonnet Dryer

Ayurvedic Paste Experiment 10-3-09
I decided to do my paste a little differently this time. Instead of using just warm water, I added a bunch of cheapie conditioner (TJ Nourish and Organix Shea Butter), EVOO, sweet almond oil, and honey. I used Amla, Brahmi, and Maka for this paste. The results were fantastic!

What I liked about this compared to the warm water paste:
Faster application
Less messy
Easier to rinse
No need to DC afterwards

I may be doing it this way from now on.

2nd Day Hair
The day after my shikakai paste. Slept in my SatinSakk, and in the morning I spritzed my hair with my homemade refresher spray. It looked really good. After I exercised, I spritzed the left side of my hair again and scrunched in some Hair Milk mixed with a tiny bit of my castor/coconut oil mix. It looked like it was going to frizz something terrible, so I threw on my SatinSakk again until it dried a little more. After I took it off, the left side looked way better than the right. The right side has some frizzy pieces, as you can see in the pics.

There's some frizz in the back too, but overall, I'm pleased. I just need to experiment a bit more to figure out the best 2nd day routine.

Shikakai Paste 9-3-09
I did an overnight hot oil treatment with Hairveda Vatika Frosting. Instead of washing with my shikakai tea, I added shikakai powder to my Ayurvedic paste mixture and left it on for almost two hours. Followed with DC, herbal rinse, styled with KBB Hair Milk and Shae's Curly Pudding.

I took these pics after waking up from a nap. I wore my brand new SatinSakk while I was sleeping, and took these pics right after taking it off. My hair was still damp when I went to sleep, and totally dry when I woke up. I was afraid the curls would be smooshed, but they weren't.

Twists 8-30-09
These were loose, sloppy twists, larger than what I normally do. I only planned to wear these for 3-4 days before redoing my hair, instead of a whole week.

Twisted with KBB Hair Milk and Darcy's MVSC and Coconut Cupuacu Butter. I love this combo! :)
