In 1678, intr-o zona de codru, la izvorul raului Cogalnic (cca. 55 km vest de Chisinau), marele stolnic Mihail Hancu infiinteaza, la rugamintea fiicei sale, o manastire de maici. Bisericile din lemn si chiliile monahale in secolul XVII sunt deseori devastate de navalirea tatarilor. Din aceasta cauza manastirea "Sf. Parascheva" periodic ramane pustie. La 1835 este zidita din piatra biserica de vara in stil rus-bizantin, mai tarziu la 1841 se inalta biserica de iarna.
In perioada 1956-1990 manastirea este inchisa de autoritatile sovietice, iar pe teritoriul ei a functionat o baza de odihna si de tratament a Ministerului Sanatatii. In 1990, la cererea localnicilor din satele vecine, manastirea Hancu este redeschisa, devenind in scurt timp una dintre cele mai bine amenajate si vizitate de turisti comunitati monahale.
In preajma manastirii se gasesc mai multe izvoare bogate in apa, unul dintre ele are o mineralizare sporita. Manastirea poate fi vizitata zilnic. Ghid local, taxe de intrare, spatii de cazare disponibile.

In 1678 in a forest at the source of the Cogalnic river (about 55 km West of Chisinau) the great High steward Mihai Hincu at request of his daughter founded a convent of nuns, which she entered. The convent was named Parascheva. The wooden churches and cells were often destroyed by the Tartar invasions during the XVIIth c., and the "St. Parascheva" monastery remained uninhabited. In 1835 a stone church was built in a Russian-Byzantine style for the summer period. Later, in 1841, came a church for the winter season.
From 1956 to1990 the convent was closed by the Soviet authorities, and instead it functioned as a sanatorium and a rest-base for the Health Ministry. In 1990, at the request of the local population the Hincu convent was reopened, becoming one of the most well arranged and most visited religious communities.
A lot of water springs surround the convent, one of them is mineralized. The convent can be visited daily. There are entrance fees and local guides and lodgings are available.

В 1678 г. у истоков р.Когылник, в зоне Кодр (примерно в 55 км к западу от Кишинэу великий стольник Михаил Хынку основал по желанию своей дочери женский монастырь, куда она постригается в монахини под именем Параскева. Однако в XVII в. деревянная церковь и монашеские кельи часто подвергались татарским нашествиям, поэтому в тяжёлые времена монастырь "Св. Параскева" оставался безлюдным. В 1835 году была построена каменная летняя церковь в русско-византийском стиле, а несколько позже, в 1841 г., возводится и зимняя церковь.
В период с 1956 по 1990 г. монастырь был закрыт советскими властями, а на его территории действовала база отдыха и санаторий Министерства Здравоохранения. В 1990 г. по просьбе жителей соседних сёл монастырь вновь становится действующим, а по качеству обустройства и количеству посещений туристами является одним из ведущих среди всех монастырей Молдовы.
