Jacqueline's Old School Diva's 50th Disco/Bohemian Birthday Party
Greetings,

On March 14, 2016, I graciously celebrated 50 years of life and am eternally grateful and blessed to have lived a healthy, interesting and full life! I celebrated this milestone with family and friends who came from near and far on Friday, March 18, 2016 to the Dedham Post, No. 18 Inc., The American Legion located at 155 Eastern Avenue in Dedham, Massachusetts. Over a week and a half later, I am still smiling from ear to ear reminiscing………

Words alone cannot express my extreme gratitude to everyone enough who attended the party, held me in their thoughts, called, texted, emailed, went to the post office to mail cards/gifts, brought cards/gifts with them to the party, generously donated their time, energy, food and money to help make the party as special as it was!

I was ecstatic to see so many of my family and friends come out to celebrate with me and see them in full 70’s attire…. Short-shorts, bell bottom pants, dashikis, jumpsuits, black panthers and afros as far as the eye could see! There were even a few people whom I didn’t know who they were until I got up real close to them! LOL!

We feasted on fried chicken, stew chicken, jerk chicken, curry chicken, rice & peas, fishcakes, beef/chicken patties, meatballs, taco salad, deviled eggs, vegetable Lo Mein, vegetable lasagna, meat lasagna, couscous, garden salad, fruit salad, cupcakes and carrot cake!

Guests were impressed with the memorabilia table which included my grade school pictures from the 70’s, platform shoes, roller skates, a black light bulb, slinky, jacks, 8 tracks and a working 8 track player, tape cassettes, disco ball, Soul Train history book, wood beaded curtain, tinsel curtain, lava lamp, LP’s and 45 records and spindles, and a plant my late mother gave me a few months before she passed away in October 2011, honestly, her spirit must be alive and well in that plant otherwise I surely would have killed it if left to my own accord!

Of course, the music was on point, 70’s style with a few house music tracks snuck in between songs!

Each guest parted with a small disco ball party favor to show my appreciation for them coming out to help celebrate my life. I look forward to be alive and kicking for another 50+ years and celebrating with each of you!

I received so much positive feedback from guests after the party that I’m considering hosting another party later this year, with an admission fee, back in the day it was called a “rent party!” LOL! Stay tuned for more details!

Hugs, Peace, Blessings, Light & Love,
Jacqueline

My Sisterlocks Journey - Phase II
(Dec 1, 2004)
Greetings Everyone,

I thought long and hard and decided to restart my Sisterlocks journey by lovingly and painstaking having all of my 9-month-old Sisterlocks removed (see process below) and reinstalled smaller to create more locks, to allow me to have more styling flexibility as in up-dos/French braids, etc. I am a bit of a perfectionist, but much happier knowing I will get the size lock I want in the end. Please know, my Certified Sisterlocks Consultant, Martine Bernard did a fabulous job installing my first set of 425+/- standard size Sisterlocks (17 hours, over two days) and the second set of 650+/- micro-small-medium sized Sisterlocks (approximately 33 hours, over four non-consecutive days in 1.5 months. I wore a lot of head wraps!) and yes, we are still good friends :)! Thank God!

Kudos:
I have to give a BIG THANKS to Pat S., Angela S., Arianna A., Cassandra G. and my biggest supporter, my cousin Diana G. I could not have done it without y’all!

The Take Down Process:
It took approximately one month, several hours a night to remove the 425+/- locks. We used the end of a metal rat-tail comb and an open straight tipped bobby pin and used alone or a combination of: Water, Downey (fabric softener), a cheap balsam conditioner, Take Down, African Royale Hot Six Oil, and Queen Helena Cholesterol. Personally, I found the African Royale Hot Six Oil worked best all by itself. It was a VERY, VERY, VERY long and tedious process.

Finally.....
I want everyone to know that I would NEVER attempt this again! If I decided I didn’t want Sisterlocks anymore, I would just grow them out and cut my hair into a TWA! Nonetheless, join me on Part II of Sisterlocks journey.
