THE SECOND B-I-G CUT !!! (7/18/08) - 7th month
I did once again!!! With my hair I was really at the point that I needed to get rid of all my previous damaged hair from years of abuse. So I will CUT GROW CUT GROW until it is all healthy.

Last Album: 2nd Stretching Challenge went horrible so that prompted me to do this second big cut.

I received my cut: July 18, 2008

1st Goal - 2inch PAST SHOULDERS (7 months)
In this album there will be various pictures of my journey to this goal.
Goal started: Dec 1, 2007
Goal ends: July 1, 2008
Next Relaxer : July 18, 2008 My BIRTHDAY !!!

I decided to wait to compare results unitl after first goal because after getting a relaxer. I saw length but my old tattered ends from years of abuse.Just did not compare to the healthy hair that is at the top of my head. So I wanted to get more new growth so I can chop off about 2 inchs of my ends. I will have pics before the chop and after.
I think one of my sides of my hair is weaker than the other as well.
Does anyone have suggestions on what I can do?
My right side looks so healthy and my left side is just scarrgeling away.

1st Relaxer since joining Fotki -Dec***(12/28/2007)***
I am learning so much about not only how to keep my hair healthy but my body as well.

5th week going into the 6th I had to get a perm. I was really aiming for 6 weeks but after I washed it I noticed that my hair was breaking more than I have noticed for the past 5 weeks.
Sometimes you have to know when your hair can't handle a certain condition. My hair grows in thick and coarse.
***So on 12/28/07 (Last Perm 11/21/07)
I permed it and did the typical roller set I'm really getting tired of the roller set lol. I love variety of hairstyles which is why I am in this perdicament in the first place.

I recommend never to relax your hair because you are seeing breakage. After doing some research on the subject that was one of the worst things I could have done. A relaxer is not the solution for breakage. Before getting a perm make sure your hair can handle the perm.

The roller set is something that you all should try.
If you shampoo your hair once a week then the roller set should last till each wash.
This allows for you to decrease the amount of heat you put on you hair.
I shampoo my hair and roller set it sit underneath the drier and it comes out great. I dont mess with it meaning I dont have to apply any heat.
I contribute the reason why my curls last so well to the setting lotion I use. I use LOTTA BODY setting lotion. I reccomend you get it. Your curls will stay in and have a beautiful shine.

Actually after the first 12 week stretch I felt as if I could go an additional 2 weeks.
Focus: My left side/nape/front edges.

To make the challenge easier I've decided to use weave, braids, conrows, kinky twist whatever it takes to keep me from seeing my hair.

1st Stretching Challenge Continues ...**Feb/Mar** (3rd and 4th Month in this Album).. COMPLETED SUCCESFULLY
The other album was getting too full.
I want your viewing to be easy lol.

In this album I did my own sewin. So tell me what you think. I have never done conrows before or a sew in and have only had it once put on my own head. I just tried it on my own randomly. I am so ambitious and I dont like spending money on things I can do. So tell me if you like or give me tips to do a better job next time.

Well I think I can do it :)
I think I am at a point now where I can tell what my hair wants and needs. I have been afraid to do this in fear of losing everything I have gained so far. The more hairs I can save the better.

As I update you on the progress tell me what I can do to make my hair manageable or what hairstyles can I do to prevent as much mechanical damage and stress as possible.

(UP-Date I went to 12 instead of 13 weeks because it sounds better and makes 3 months even lol)

Jan/Feb: Wear hair in protective styles for 6 weeks.(braid outs,twists,buns, bantu knots etc.)

I L-O-V-E WASHING MY HAIR
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Starting from the second week of my 13 week stretch I started washing my hair 2wice a week and the difference is unbelievable. I could never have made it to my 8th week without doing so. This is the longest I have gone without breakage. It feels good to retain those pieces.

Feb/Mar: Wear cornrows or sewn in weave for 7 weeks.

Hair Products
These are the products I am using right now. Ive only had about 2 months with them so its still all experimental.

Who said keeping it simple didnt work.
I am keeping it very simple trying to only put in my hair the essential ingredients I need and nothing more.

Well I added more and for good reason.
I defiantly needed a protein shampoo to add structure to my hair. This really stopped the breakage.
Then I need to daily moisturize my hair because my hair wasn't taking the every 3 day moisturzer.
