- (Jul 30, 2009)
- Usually, it takes me a day and a half to twist my hair. Which is why I leave twists in for 2 months or more. So I wanted to try less time consuming twists. I twisted my hair into like 15 sections or so after co-washing, and undid each twist, and retwisted each into two after my hair had dried a bit. I only used G-99.5 glycerin spray as a moisturizer. Where needed, I untwisted, divided, and retwisted. In all it took a little over 2 hours. That's a HUGE time difference and the twists look practically the same. A week later, I untwisted for a twist-out. I'm not going back to the 2-day twists again.

- Hair experiment.
Washed my hair with conditioner, Herbal Essences' hello hydration. Soaked my hair in it and put on a plastic cap overnight. I hate the way it makes my hair feel by the way, too much alcohol I think, so I won't be using it again. Anyway, next day, rinsed it out. Brushed hair (in the shower) to detangle in small sections, about 13 sections total. Twisted each section after detangling to keep separate while in the shower. Got out of the shower. Added the vitamin E creme body lotion to each section and retwisted. For one sample section I coated the hair with Kinky-Curly curling custard instead of the lotion before twisting. I slept on a towel overnight and the next day, I finger combed my hair and wore it out loose. It was awesome.
That night, I retwisted the sections but this time I curled up the hair in sponge rollers. I ran out by the time I got to the top so I rolled them up over those bendable foam rollers. Next day, loosened up again. My hair was Da Bomb!
edit: Hello hydration is the bomb! or maybe my hair is playing games. Anyway, washed my hair with it and re-soaked my hair with it this past weekend and it was so easy to manage. I think the problem before was that I'd used bottled water and they must formulate it to work with hard tap water. - Album was created 3 years 4 months ago and modified 3 years 4 months ago

- (Dec 22, 2008)
- Decided to try something new. Had tried several different products for curling hair (straws, small and medium soft twist rollers, conair hotsticks hairsetter) and liked how the straw set stayed through several washings. So, I did a straw set on my whole head. I noticed that I didn't need to actually let the hair set. I just twirled it around the straw and eased the straw out and it stayed coiled.
Looking forward to the next co-washes. Hoping it'll end up looking like a coily fro.
Well, I'm on my 2nd co-wash and it's still coiled and hanging down. The coils where I part my hair are halfway uncoiled but everything else is as tight, if not tighter, than before. So much for a coily fro.
update: I don't think I'm gonna do this again. It was very difficult to get the coils out. My hair DID NOT want to uncoil one bit! Had to uncoil them soaking wet one by one and lost a lot of hair in the process. If I do get the urge again, I'll only coil the ends or coil a ponytail. - Album was created 3 years 5 months ago and modified 3 years 5 months ago
