- Panda Bears in Vienna

- In March 2003 a pair of Giant Panda bears was transferred from China to the Schoenbrunn Zoo in Vienna. The animals are on loan to the Republic of Austria by the People's Republic of China for a period of 10 years.
The Panda staff in the Viennese zoo consists of five keepers.
The enclosure of the two Panda bears is very diverse and well structured. There are three ponds, a stream course, trees and bushes, numerous wooden platforms and more.
To protect the pandas on hot summer days a fog system was installed in the outside enclosure and the house can be cooled with three air conditioners.
The bears are free to choose if they want to be inside or outdoors.
Around 50 to 60 kg of bamboo are fed to Yang Yang and Long Hui every day. Just in August they get some fresh maize in addition which seems to be a delicacy for the animals. Please look at the pictures in my album and watch them when enjoying the maize.

- Siberian Tigers in the Vienna Zoo - Tiergarten Schönbrunn Wien

- The Siberian tiger suffers hard from the loss of habitat. Nowadays, more Siberian tigers live in human care than in the great outdoors. The zoo can act as an ark: if the political and ecological situation in the traditional homeland of the Siberian tigers should stabilize, new generations of Siberian tigers - grown up in zoos - could be resettled there.
A pair of Siberian Tigers has been living in the Vienna Zoo, they've got a cub last year - it's a male and almost as big as his father now. This year they've got two cubs again! Let's have a look at them all!

- Prater in Vienna - Der Wiener Prater
- After a very long time I visited again the Prater in Vienna which is both a green recreation area and an amusement park - dated 19th century! There is the famous Riesenrad - Ferry Wheel (since 1896), many old fashioned merry-go-rounds, the Liliputbahn, a miniature train with a steam locomotive and the famous Restaurant Schweizer Haus with its Budweiser Beer and knockle of porc - a must! Please come and enjoy it with me!
